Duads in relationships and family

November 22nd, 2009

Duads are twelve 2.5 degree segments of a zodiac sign. Each duad starts with the zodiac sign and then progresses through each of the following signs in order. E.g. If the zodiac sign is Sagittarius, then the first 2 degrees 30 minutes will be the Sagittarius duad of Sagittarius, the second 2 degrees 30 minutes will be the Capricorn duad of Sagittarius, the third 2 degrees 30 minutes will be the Aquarius duad of Sagittarius .. and so on.  (Click to see Duad Table )

There is a second kind of division where the 1st dwad of any sign is the Aries dwad, the 2nd is the Taurus dwad .. and so on.  These are easy to calculate on a computer because they are the 12th harmonic chart.

(See article on calculating duads and a little duad calculator  in The duad System menu).

For the sake of convenience I call the first type of division ‘duads’ and the second type of division ‘dwads’.

The duad of the sign considerably affects the way the sign works. For example: The duad of your Ascendant will colour the qualities of the Ascendant and the way you use your ascendant sign. E.g. If someone has the Cancer duad of Sagittarius rising they will use the Sagittarian energy quite differently to someone who has the Scorpio duad of Sagittarius rising. They will even look quite different. Both will present a more “watery” feel than Sagittarius Ascendant normally does.

SUBRULER

This can be taken further. The person who has the Cancer duad of Sagittarius rising will have the ruler of Cancer, the Moon, as the sub-ruler of the Ascendant. The position of the Moon and its aspects would be important, particularly if the Moon aspects Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius, or aspects the Ascendant itself.

SIGN- HOUSE:

The zodiac sign that is the same as the duad and the house it rules will also be important. If someone has the Scorpio duad of Sagittarius rising, then it is likely that the 12th house is ruled by the sign Scorpio and this increases the importance of that house.

The duads are important for all planetary and angle placements and particularly important for the Sun, Moon, Moon’s Nodes , Ascendant-Descendant, MC-IC , Vertex– antiVertex , angular planets and the ruling planet.

In my research on this system I found that these positions also described planets and angles in the charts of parents, grandparents and other members of the family. For example:

A mother may have the Sun in the sign Gemini, her child may have the Sun in the Gemini duad of any sign. This child may have a child with the Sun in the 3rd (Gemini) dwad of a sign.

Taking this back a generation— you can have the mother with her Sun in Gemini in the Scorpio duad (12.5-15 degrees of Gemini). Her father may have the Sun in Scorpio. This duad is the 6th (Virgo) dwad of Gemini, so her mother may have the Sun in Virgo, And/or one of her other children may have the Sun in Virgo.

The Sun, Moon, angles and Nodes can be interchangeable (particularly the Ascendant – Moon and Sun-MC) so a person can have the Moon in the same sign as a parent’s Sun’s duad, or the Ascendant in the same sign as the mother’s Moon’s duad, and so on ….

In a family a parent or child may have their Sun conjunct the other’s MC or IC, giving a very strong tie between these two people. There is also a particularly strong correlation between the duad of a parent’s Sun and the child’s MC or IC or vice versa.

I have found there is a consistent and easily traceable connection between the position of the planets and angles in zodiac signs and duads from generation to generation. Also, there is often a strong affinity between the people who carried this sign/duad flow in the different generations. E.g. a grandparent may have their Sun in Aquarius and the grandchild have their Sun in the Aquarius duad of Taurus. This will tend to give an attraction and a feeling of affinity between the two.

So: Zodiac signs their duads and dwads are an astrological map of  genetic inheritance within a family.

RELATIONSHIPS:

The duads show your instinctive attraction towards a person. The reason why is because these zodiac signs run through the family genes, the person will also attract and be attracted to non-family members with the Sun, Moon, Angles or Nodes in these signs. Therefore: People frequently marry people who fit this criteria.

For a woman the duads of your Sun, Moon, Mars, Ascendant and Nodes are usually the main significators of attraction to the opposite sex. E.g. if a woman has her Sun in Cancer in the Libra duad and the 4th duad (Cancer), she will be instinctively drawn to Libran and Cancerian men, or, to a lesser extent, people with the Moon, Mars, Angles or North Node in Libra or Cancer.

For a man, the duads of your Sun, Moon, Venus, Ascendant and Nodes are the main significators of attraction towards the opposite sex. E.g. if a man has his Moon in Taurus in the Taurus duad and 1st (Aries) duad of Taurus his instincts will draw him to women with the Moon or Venus in Taurus or Aries, or to a lesser extent, the Sun, Angles or Nodes in that sign.

SEXUAL ATTRACTION:

A woman will find a man sexy if he has Mars in the same sign as her Mars duad. E.g. a woman whose Mars is at 1Virgo39 will have Mars in the Virgo duad and 1st (Aries) dwad, so she is likely to find men with Mars in Virgo or Aries sexy.

A man will find a woman sexy if she has her Venus or Moon in the same sign as his Venus or Moon duad. E.g. a man with his Venus at 16Libra23 in the Aries duad and 7th (Libra) dwad of Libra will find women with Venus in Aries and Venus in Libra quite beautiful. He will also like women with the Moon in Aries or Libra.

The Nodes are important for emotional connection between people. These connections show very strongly in marriage and family charts. E.g. A person with the North Node at 4Taurus58 in the Gemini duad and 2nd (Taurus) dwad, will be drawn to those who carry Gemini and/or Taurus in their Sun, Moon, Ascendant, MC and/or Vertex. This may indicate a soul connection. These signs will also run through the family.

If someone does not have the zodiac sign or duads that your genetic patterning requires, there is less likely to be any deep, instinctual level of attraction. You may like or dislike them according to the synastry of their chart and yours, but there is not the “kick” that starts a relationship.

Therefore: In relationship and synastry charts, the duads are the first step in assessing whether someone will be attracted to another.

EXAMPLES:

This is Prince Charles natal chart:

This is Prince Charles duad chart (for greater visibility click charts to enlarge them)

Prince Charles has his Sun is the Cancer duad of Scorpio. This will tell us two things:

1. The sign Cancer runs through his family

2. He will be very drawn to people with the Sun in Cancer or Cancer Moon, Angles or Nodes.

This is Prince Charles dwad chart:

Prince Charles has his Sun in the 9th (Sagittarius) duad of Scorpio This tells us that:

1. The sign Sagittarius runs through his family.

2. He will be drawn to those with the Sun in Sagittarius and to a lesser extent, the Sun in the 9th house, or the Moon, Nodes or angles in Sagittarius

FAMILY PATTERNS

To illustrate how a planetary energy can run throughout a family I will use the current Royal Family and have chosen Saturn to illustrate this example as it is the planet of duty, discipline and responsibility, three qualities that are much admired in this family line. (see table 2).

Charles mother, Queen Elizabeth II (born 21 April 1926, 2.40 am, London, England) has her Saturn at 24Scorpio26, in the Leo duad and the Capricorn dwad of Scorpio. click to see natal, duad and dwad charts: Queen Elizabeth II

Charles father, Prince Philip (born 10th June 1921, 10.00 am Corfu, Greece) has his Saturn at 18Virgo19 in the Scorpio duad and Gemini dwad of Virgo. (click to see natal, duad and dwad charts) Prince Philip

His Saturn duad is the same as the zodiac sign of Saturn in Queen Elizabeth’s natal chart, giving a strong affinity on a Saturnian level.

Prince Charles (born 14 November 1948, 9.14 pm, Buckingham Palace, England) has his Saturn at 5Virgo18, in the Aries duad and Scorpio dwad of Virgo. (see above charts) His Saturn is in the same zodiac sign as his father’s. The Scorpio dwad is the same as his mother’s Saturn in Scorpio.

Princess Anne (born 15th August 1950, 11.50 am, London, England) has her Saturn at 18Virgo49—conjunct her father, Prince Philip’s Saturn at 18Virgo19, Like him she has her Saturn in the Scorpio duad and Gemini dwad. Like him her Scorpio dwad resonates to her mother’s Saturn in Scorpio. (click to see natal, duad and dwad charts) Princess Anne

Prince Andrew (born 19th February 1960, 3.30 pm, London, England) has his Saturn at 14Capricorn55 in the Gemini Duad and Virgo dwad of Capricorn. (click to see natal, duad and dwad charts) Prince Andrew Saturn in Capricorn resonates to his mother’s Capricorn dwad. Saturn in the Virgo dwad resonates to his father’s, Charles and Anne’s Saturn in Virgo.

Prince Edward (born 10th March 1964, 8.20 pm, Buckingham Palace, England) has his Saturn at 28Aquarius26 in the Capricorn duad and Pisces dwad of Aquarius.  (click to see natal, duad and dwad charts) Prince Edward This resonates with his mother’s Capricorn dwad, but otherwise doesn’t fit so well into the family pattern. His Pisces dwad is the opposite sign to the strong Virgo energy. His Saturn in Aquarius is in the opposite sign to his mother’s Saturn duad of Leo so he is carrying the same Saturn genetic material, but opposite to the general thread of the family.

Princess Diana (born 1st July 1961, 7.45 pm, Sandringham, England) has her Saturn at 27Capricorn48 in the Sagittarius duad and Pisces dwad of Capricorn. (click to see natal, duad and dwad charts ). Princess Diana Notice that her Saturn in Capricorn resonates quite nicely to the Queen’s dwad Saturn.

Overall we get quite a strong thread of a Scorpio, Virgo and Capricorn sense of duty running throughout the family.

Saturn sign and duad

Table 2.

THREE GENERATIONS;

Let’s look at the charts of Queen Elizabeth II, her son, Prince Charles and her grandson, Prince Harry (born 15th September 1984, 4.20 pm, London, England).

Prince Harry has his Saturn in Scorpio the same sign as his grandmother – and in a very similar position in the natal chart. Harry has Saturn in the duad of Aries , the same as his father , Charles, and brother, William .  His Saturn in the Virgo dwad resonates nicely with his father’s natal Saturn in Virgo. His father’s dwad Scorpio Saturn resonates with Harry’s natal Saturn in Scorpio. (click to see natal, duad and dwad charts) Prince Harry

Prince William’s Saturn doesn’t fit the family theme. He has it in Libra, in the Aries duad and Libra dwad.   (click to see natal, duad and dwad charts) Prince William

His father, Prince Charles, has his Saturn in the Aries duad, as does his brother Prince Harry, but that is all. Where does his Saturn in Libra come from? His great-uncle, King Edward VIII has his Saturn in Libra. Like his great-Uncle, he may find his sense of duty towards his partner outweighs his sense of duty to his position in life.

Four GenerationsTable 3.

If you examine the natal duad and dwad charts of this family you will find a number of close connections, most within an degree.  These show how different members of the family connect to each other.  It will be the subject of another article.

VERTEX CONNECTIONS;

The Vertex axis seems to be connected to destined associations so should work very strongly in the royal family as they feel they are destined to this responsibility.

If we look at the Vertex connections in this family line we can see a very interesting flow:

Queen Elizabeth has her Vertex at 0Virgo21: Prince Charles has his Vertex at 22Sagittarius55 in the Virgo duad which resonates with his mother’s Vertex in Virgo

Prince Philip has his Vertex at 6Capricorn07: Prince Charles has his Vertex in the Capricorn dwad of Sagittarius, which resonates with his father’s Vertex in Capricorn.

Prince William has his Vertex at 12Leo08 in the Sagittarius duad of Leo. His father, Prince Charles, has his Vertex in Sagittarius. William’s dwad is the Leo duad of Leo and his mother, Princess Diana, had her Vertex in Leo.

King George VI, Queen Elizabeth’s father,  has his Vertex at 27Taurus11 in the Pisces duad  (click to see natal, duad and dwad charts) King George VI This is  the same sign as Queen Elizabeth’s anti-Vertex. Prince Harry, his great-grandson, has his Vertex in the Taurus duad of Leo

Interestingly, King Edward VIII has his Vertex in Virgo, the same sign as Queen Elizabeth II, and she wouldn’t have become Queen unless he abdicated.  (click to see natal, duad and dwads charts) King Edward VIII

Birthday Harmonics

November 21st, 2009

Most astrologers are interested in numerology

When we discovered harmonics we realised that the harmonics of aspects were likely to be important in some way.

E.g 360/5 = 72 = Quintile aspect = 5th harmonic, so the 5th harmonic chart could show how important our quintile aspects would be in our life.

This can be done for all aspects:

360/1 = 360 or 0 =                conjunction = 1st harmonic

360/2 = 180 =                        opposition =   2nd harmonic

360/3 = 120 =                        trine =            3rd harmonic

360/4 = 90 =                          square =        4th harmonic

360/5 = 72 =                          quintile =       5th harmonic

360/6 = 60 =                          sextile =         6th harmonic

360/7 = 51°25’ =                   septile =         7th harmonic

360/8 = 45 =                          semisquare = 8th harmonic

360/ 9 = 40 =                         novile =          9th harmonic

360/10 = 36 =                        decile =          10th harmonic

360/ 11 = 32°43’38” =          undecile =    11th harmonic

360/12 = 30 =                        quincunx =    12th harmonic

Unlike astrology, which studies the energies with which you were imprinted at your first breath, birth date numbers are ‘man made’.  They require  a man made calendar that can change throughout the centuries and throughout different cultures, so I wasn’t sure I could marry these numbers with astrology.

Still, I gave it a go and was somewhat surprised at the results.  I came to the conclusion that these numbers applied  to a harmonic chart could highlight very strong factors both within that chart and within the natal chart.

To illustrate here is birth date of the current President Elect of the USA, Barack Obama.

You can click the chart to enlarge it.

Barrack Obama parallax Moon

Barack Obama was born on the 4th August 1961 at 7.24 pm in Honolulu, Hawaii.  This is an AA rating from a sighted birth certificate.

As he was born on the 4th, the first harmonic we will study is the 4th harmonic.

The 4th harmonic is based on the square aspect so here is his aspect grid showing all his natal squares.

Barrack squares

And here is his 4th harmonic chart.  You can see how all these squares become conjunctions in this chart.

Barrack Obama 4th harmonic

You can see that the wider the orb of the square in the natal chart, the further apart is the conjunction in the 4th harmonic chart.

As the angles ‘float’ in a harmonic chart, the MC is not on the 10th cusp. Barrack Obama’s 4th harmonic MC is 25Scorpio50 in the 2nd house.

In the natal chart the Moon’s Nodes are in close square to the MC-IC and in this chart they are conjunct.

Obama has a Mercury-Jupiter opposition in his natal chart and they are conjunct in his 4th harmonic chart.  His Moon-Pluto square becomes a conjunction in this chart.

Libra rising in the 4th harmonic chart suggests he will like to present this harmonic tactfully and use negotiation skills to overcome blocks or problems.  This is further emphasised with 4th harmonic Venus conjunct 4th harmonic Descendant.

4th harmoinc Saturn on cusp of 10th house suggests a sense of responsibility and desire to organise.  The trine from Uranus suggests he will be able to do this well.

People who have natal angles and planets within a degree of Obama’s 4th harmonic chart will be very important to him.  They will bring a measure of tension with them (square) but also help him build strong foundations for the future (4). Interestingly, Oprah Winfrey has her natal Moon in the same sign and degree as Obama’s  4th harmonic Moon and she was a major influence and support in his campaign.  (29 January 1954, 7.51 pm, Koscuisko, Mississippi. )

The next step is to see if this harmonic has a ‘doorway’ into the natal chart.  A doorway is an exact aspect from a harmonic planet to a natal planet.  This enables the harmonic planet to function very effectively.

Barrack and 4th harmonic

The harmonic MC-IC is square natal Uranus, harmonic Moon is trine natal Sun and harmonic Jupiter is sextile natal Moon, so there are plenty of doorways to enable his 4th harmonic chart to work in a satisfactory way.

The harmonic Moon in square to natal Vertex axis suggests a public orientation and women being most important for his 4th harmonic destiny.

Transits as well as natal directions and progressions to his 4th harmonic chart will be prominent at important times in his life, particularly times that have required a lot of effort (squares).   For example, when he became President Elect at the time McCann conceded defeat  on 4th November 2008, 9.19 pm, Phoenix, Arizona, Obama had transiting Pluto square and transiting antiVertex quincunx 4th harmonic Pluto.  This is important because Pluto is the ruler of his natal Scorpio MC – the career point in chart.

THE NUMBERS OF THE BIRTHDATE ADDED TO A TOTAL.

The harmonic of the total numbers in the birthdate is even more powerful.  There are several ways to total a birthdate and as you will see each of these harmonics can be viable.

Obama’s birthdate can be totalled in this way:

4+8+1961 = 1973.  This will make 1973 a very important year in his life and you can do a harmonic chart for this number that will yield good results.

But we want to look at the double and base numbers so: 1+9+7+3 = 20.  The first harmonic chart we look at will be his 20th harmonic.

Barrack 20th harmonic

The 20th harmonic has Vertex conjunct Uranus in the 5th house and trine Jupiter-Pluto, giving unusual (Uranus) destined relationships (Vertex)  that can be very successful (Jupiter-Pluto).

People who have their natal planets within one degree of a conjunction to Obama’s 20th harmonic chart will have a powerful influence on him.

The birthdate can also be totalled in this way:  4+8+1+9+6+1 = 29

According to other ways of totalling a birthday 29 is the most powerful life path  number for Obama.   This will be his major lifetime harmonic so suggests that his 29th year was a most powerful year in his life.    29 can further be reduced to 2+9 =11.  This suggests that the 11th, 20th and 29th years of his life were powerful years that set his life path in motion.

Barrack 29th harmonic

At age 29, in spring 1991 Obama graduated magna cum laude from Harvard. This set the tone for a very successful life.

Jupiter  is conjunct MC , indicating a most successful year.

The Ascendant-antiVertex and Descendant-Vertex conjunction, indicates a ‘destiny’ associated with his physical appearance or persona as well as a partnership. 14°43’ is his Arabic Part of Success, so the Vertex-Descendant on that point is most propitious.

Mercury, the ruler of the 29th harmonic  MC was trine his natal Part of Kings and Sultans at 7°30’ Gemini.

People with natal planets, angles and house cusps conjunct Obama’s 29th harmonic chart will always  influence him.  Oprah Whitney’s natal Moon is conjunct Uranus in this harmonic chart.

What is the Vertex?

November 19th, 2009

The Vertex axis is the Electrical Axis of the chart. The Ascendant-Descendant is the Magnetic axis. The MC-IC is the gravity axis.

The Vertex axis is a point of energy derived from the intersection of the Prime  Vertical and the Ecliptic.  The West side of this point is called the Vertex, the East side is called the Anti-Vertex.

The Ascendant-Descendant axis is found by the points of intersection of the Great Circles of the Ecliptic and Horizon.

The MC-IC axis is found by the intersection of the Great Circles of the  Meridian and Ecliptic,

The Vertex axis functions as an angle, just like the Ascendant and the MC

In a Local Horizon Chart, the Vertex is the due West point and the Anti-vertex is due East,   the MC is due North and the IC is due South (reversed in the Northern Hemisphere).

Each Angle axis has a specific purpose.

The Ascendant axis describes the physical body and brain and the environment in which a child is reared. A child does not see herself or himself as an individual, but as a part of a family and the environment.

As this child grows into an adult, s/he develops a sense of self as an individual, and eventually moves into the world to “make a mark”. This process is described by the Midheaven axis, and in our cultures this process is mainly experienced through a career or avocation.

The Vertex axis stimulates Cosmic Awareness, an understanding that an  individual is an integral part of the Universe, not just an isolated, separate  entity.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

When our human nature has evolved to a point where we can develop new realisations of reality we usually discover a planet that embodies that level of reality.

The angles and house cusps of a natal chart are your own personal  “mini zodiac” and map your personal energy field, so when a new “angle” (Vertex axis) is discovered it means that more human beings are becoming able to move through to the Cosmic Awareness level of reality.

The Vertex axis can be likened to a doorway that gives access to other realities. It is usually highly emphasised, with a planet conjunct (orb 8°), in the charts of people who have this ability. The doorway is of the nature of the sign and house where the Vertex resides and powerfully emphasises that sign, making it at least as important as that of the Ascendant and MC.

If the Vertex axis has a planet or Node conjunct, it often becomes an over-riding force that makes the Vertex and that planet stronger than anything else in the chart, including a planet conjunct the Ascendant or MC.

If The Vertex axis has a planet in close aspect it enhances that planet’s nature, its sign and house to a considerable degree, making that planet a very strong focus in the chart.

A planet conjunct or in a close to exact aspect to the Vertex tends to give a specific and often intense destiny – something the person is required to do or experience for greater soul development, or must do in order to find meaning in life – or both.

Therefore Vertex stimulation can have an almost compulsive effect that overrides all other considerations.

The Vertex axis has also been considered the axis of destined or fated encounters with others.

The sign and house in which the Vertex axis resides determines the type of doorway to other realities and Cosmic Awareness.

The sign and house in which the rulers of the Vertex axis reside are also very important.

If the Vertex is conjunct and/or parallel a fixed star it indicates a connection to the Galaxy through that Star system.

Duad Charts describe the differences in Twins

November 19th, 2009

Astrologers have found the charts of twins of very great interest. Twins are often born very close to each other in time, and therefore often have the same or very close to the same energy imprint at the moment of their first breath—yet so many identical twins are very different in character, even though they look the same.

One of my great interests in Astrology is genetic inheritance shown through the planets, signs and aspects. For example, a member of one generation of a family may be born with Neptune on an angle, one of their children may have a Pisces Ascendant, Sun or Moon, and their grandchild may have an emphasised twelfth house, so we have a consistent flow of planet, sign and house throughout the generations. Other members of the family are likely to have their Sun, Moon and/or ruler of an angle in aspect to Neptune, so you could say the family has a Neptune theme running throughout.

Whilst refining this system I thought I would check decanates (the division of the sign of the zodiac into three separate sections) and duads (the division of the sign of the zodiac into twelve 2°30’ sections). I was both fascinated and astonished to find that the duad system clearly described, in detail, the genetic inheritance of a family line.

Duads

Each sign of the zodiac can be divided into twelve 2°30’ sections and each of these sections are a little mini sign.

To illustrate: the first 2°30’ section of Aries is the Aries duad of Aries, the next 2°30’ section (2°30’ – 5°) is the Taurus duad of Aries, the next 2°30’ section (5° – 7°.30’) is the Gemini duad of Aries, and so on.

The first duad of Taurus (0° – (2°30’ ) us the Taurus duad of Taurus, the next (2°30’ – 5°) is the Gemini duad of Taurus, the next (5° – 7°.30’) is the Cancer duad of Taurus and so on.

So each sign starts with its own duad and moves through the zodiac in order of the signs (click to see Duad Table).

A person will be very drawn to those who carry in their natal chart the same sign as their duad.

E.g. Someone who has the Sun in the Aquarian duad of Cancer will be very drawn to Aquarians and those with the Moon in Aquarius, even though this is not a sign that is normally considered compatible with Cancerians. It is quite likely they will have an Aquarian parent, grandparent or child.

To calculate duad charts see article on calculating duads and dwads in The Duad System Menu there is also a little duad calculator that is free to download if you wish.   http://aliceportman.com/?p=606

Twins

Whilst studying the charts of twins, both identical and non-identical, that were born very close together in time, I found that the duad chart for each twin clearly showed their differing natures and to an extent, the different experiences they have in life. This article will use the charts of identical twins, Adam and Bryan, to illustrate how the duad chart system works.

You can click the charts to enlarge them.

As you can see, these two charts are nearly identical. Adam has an Ascendant of 24 Capricorn 21 and Bryan has an Ascendant of 24 Capricorn 57, so even the degree is the same for each person. Likewise, Adam has a MC of 20Scorpio01 and Bryan has a MC of 20Scorpio30. Adam has a Vertex of 28Leo32 and Bryan’s Vertex is 28Leo55

It would be hard to get charts that are more identical, but these two twins have quite different lives. One is the father of two children, the other is having difficulty starting a family. Each would receive the same transits, progressions and directions at the same time but why would these produce different results?

Duad charts give the answer!

Adam’s duad chart

Adam’s duad Ascendant is 22Libra12, indicating that he will be drawn to those with Libra rising and planets in Libra, particularly if they are around 22°. He has no close aspect to this Ascendant, so no planets are influencing the way Libra rising expresses itself. This Ascendant will give charm and a desire for beauty and harmony in his life.

The ruler of the Ascendant, Venus, is in Libra in the 12th house, suggesting that he would value his privacy and require quiet times to regenerate his energy. Venus is trine the duad Aquarian Sun, increasing his charm and harmonious presentation to others.

His duad MC is 00Cancer07 indicating a desire to work with the public and/or nurture others. Ceres is in close sextile to this MC, suggesting that the nurturing tendency would be quite strong and perhaps gives an interest in cooking (Cancer) healthy foods (Ceres in Virgo). The duad MC is also sextile the North Node, giving an interest in working with others, perhaps in community or family groups.

The ruler of the MC is the Moon in Sagittarius in the 2nd house conjunct Mercury, giving a need to make money (2nd house) through communication and/or trade (Mercury). As Mercury is ruler of the 9th and 12th, this could perhaps involve publishing or overseas interests.

Adam’s Vertex is 12Cancer29, quincunx Mercury which increases the power of this planet. It is also square Venus, increasing the power of his Venus in Libra, and adding to his charm.

These signs and degrees would always be important for Adam and may respond quite strongly to transits. He would find that he had a particular affinity to members of the family who have their natal planets or angles on his duad degrees and would be attracted to those whose natal chart echoed his duad chart in some way .

Bryan’s duad chart

Bryan also has a Libra Ascendant, Cancer MC and Leo Vertex in his duad chart, but the degrees are different and this difference brings into play an entirely different focus in life.

Bryan has the difficult, temperamental and stubborn duad Mars-Uranus conjunction in Taurus quincunx his duad Ascendant. It is also on the cusp of his duad 8th house, bringing pressure in the areas of joint finances. This configuration is square the North Node, further suggesting that there would be difficulties with financial affairs involving family, groups, and partnerships, particularly as Mars rules the 7th cusp and 2nd cusp.

Bryan has duad Saturn in Capricorn square his duad Libra Ascendant, bringing some restrictions into his ability to express himself harmoniously, and as Saturn is in his duad 3rd house, perhaps some problems in dealing with siblings. Saturn is also quincunx the North Node suggesting flexibility and adjustment is needed in all situations connected to siblings and family.

On the plus side, Bryan has duad Jupiter trine duad Ascendant and conjunct duad 5th cusp. This is helpful in self expression and beneficial for producing children. As it is conjunct duad South Node, it suggests that he has a karmic connection to his children. Jupiter is ruler of his duad third house, so he would love his brother, despite the difficulties described by Saturn in the third conjunct 4th cusp.

Bryan will be more responsive to the 28-30° placements with transits etc., than his brother Adam, as these are brought into prominence by his duad Ascendant degree.

So you can see that even with a birth time difference of only two minutes, the duad charts describe two very different people, with Bryan having a duad chart that shows a great deal more pressure and tension than Adam’s. Each duad chart emphasises different degrees and therefore different planetary placements.

Powerpoints

These are shown when duad planets and angles connect to planets in the natal chart. They put much greater emphasis on both the duad and the natal planet, so when transits, progressions and directions activate these positions there is often a strong reaction.

Adam’s natal chart is on the inside and his duad chart is on the outside of this wheel.

You can see that the duad Pluto is conjunct natal Scorpio Sun at 8-9 Scorpio. This puts considerable emphasis on both the natal and duad placement. This degree will be highly responsive to transits etc.

Likewise, duad North Node is conjunct natal Vertex at 28-29Leo, emphasising this degree for transits etc. As this degree also resonates to the Ascendant in Bryan’s duad chart, the transit triggers may affect him a little more than his brother Adam.

Adam’s duad MC is square natal Venus, so the natal Venus would resonate more to Adam when activated by transits, progression and directions.

Bryan’s natal chart is in the inside and his duad chart on the outside of this wheel.

House Systems and House cusps

October 1st, 2009

1.  House systems are derived from different methods of dividing time and space.  All these methods are quite valid so all house systems are valid.  I tend to work  with what I call the ‘big  Seven’’  Alcabitius, Campanus, Koch, Placidus, Porphyry, Regiomontanus and Topcentric.  However there are a number of different types of house systems that you can get into if you want to.

2.  The Ascendant, Descendant, MC, IC, Vertex and antiVertex remain the same whatever house system you use.

3. Individuals tend to have a personal resonance to one or two specific house systems. I haven’t as yet found out why but think it might be genetically based,  it could also be location based or a mixture of the two.

4.  The best way I have found to ascertain your own particular house system is to watch Uranus transits over the same cusp in different house systems.  You will find something happens on each but the one that produces the strongest effect is the correct system for you.

5.  As Uranus transits are long term you need to also watch for faster moving planets and/or lunations on that same degree as these will act as a trigger.

6.  Once you have done that you can then check out progressions and directions to the cusps of the most likely house systems.  For fine tuning make sure you also use faster moving progressions like Tertiary and Minor.

7.  Daily Age Harmonics will help you decide between the same cusps in different systems that are close to the same minute.  This is an advanced technique but quite simple to use if you have Solar Fire v6 or v7.  Click this link to learn more about Age Harmonics

Don’t let all this confuse you, it is not all that hard to do and is very interesting.  It is also a good way to quickly learn how astrology works for you in your world.

Australia’s Birth Charts

October 1st, 2009

There are three charts for Australia:  The Birth of Australia on 26th January 1788, at 5.23 am, Sydney Australia; the Birth of the Commonwealth of Australia on 1st January 1901,  12.00 am, Melbourne, Australia; the Inauguration chart of  the time of Swearing-In or Oath Taking of the Governor General, Prime Minister and members of Parliament on 1st January 1901  at 1.35 pm in Sydney, Australia.

Birth of Australia

This chart was researched by Australian Astrologer Ed Tamplin and his reasoning can be read here:   http://www.edtamplin.com/articles/Birth%20of%20a%20Nation.htm    I am very satisfied that this is the correct chart for the time England declared possession of Australia as the Commonwealth charts strongly resonate to this one.    Jupiter conjunct the Vertex and trine Pluto indicated the success of the venture.

Birth of the Commonwealth of Australia

Constitution of the Commonwealth of Australia.

The Constitution was approved in referendums held over 1898–1900 by the people of  the Australian Colonies.  The approved draft was enacted as a section of the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act 1900 (Imp), an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom.

The Commission of Assent was signed by Queen Victoria on 9 July 1900, upon which the Constitution became law. This Constitution came into force on 1 January 1901, when Australia became a nation in its own right.

There is some debate as to whether the above chart should be set for midnight London, England, as that was the time that England formally released Australia.  However, from Australia’s point of view, the Constitution came into effect at midnight, Melbourne, Australia as at that time Melbourne was the acting capital of Australia,  so the above chart is calculated for this location.

Notice the strong connections to the Birth of Australia chart.

*  Pluto conjunct Jupiter and the Ascendant/MC midpoint

*  Jupiter conjunct the North Node

*  Mars conjunct the Moon

*  Neptune trine the MC

*  Saturn trine the MC

*  Mars conjunct the Vertex/Descendant midpoint

*  Sun semisquare Sun/Moon midpoint

Australia Inauguration Chart

The most important chart of them all as it shows the time of the Swearing In of the first Prime Minister of Australia and so describes the Government of Australia.  It is the equivalent of the POTUSA chart for the USA, which maps the time of the Oath taken by the first President of the USA.

I have thoroughly researched the origins of our country and the fascinating stories of the beginning of our Commonwealth. Australia was the first country to film the inauguration of the first Governor General, Prime Minister and Members of Parliament and that took place at the end of a joyous procession attended by over 250,000 people, delegates from all the other states (including Victoria) and delegates from other countries, in SYDNEY, Australia.

The celebration and Swearing-In Ceremonies had a very magical feel as there was a huge electrical storm that cleared up just before the procession started at 10.00 am and started again about 2.00 pm, just after all the ceremonies were complete.

I do not know why younger astrologers are ignoring the work of one of our best research astrologers, Gwen Stoney, who obtained the film of the event, actually timed the Swearing-In and then tested the chart using Cosmobiology techniques. She timed it at 1.35 pm on the 1st January 1901 in Sydney, Australia. She presented this evidence at the Sydney FAA Conference in 1980 and it has since been widely accepted as Australia’s chart.  This fully recorded evidence is irrefutable.

Re the erroneous information that Australia was ‘born’ in Melbourne.  There was no procession and no swearing in of any Governor General, Prime Minister or Members of Parliament in Melbourne at 1.25 pm on 1st January 1901. Nothing of any consequence happened then as Melbourne Members of Parliament were in Sydney being Sworn In at the time.  The only correct chart based in Melbourne, Victoria,  is the Birth of the Commonwealth of Australia chart above.

Melbourne had its big celebration at the Opening of Parliament ceremony on the 9th May 1901 in the Exhibition Building, Melbourne. Parliament was held in Melbourne until it moved to the new capital, Canberra, in 1927.

You can easily access information on these events via the Internet. There are a number of sources. These events are also fully documented in Canberra.

What is Out-Of-Bounds?

October 1st, 2009

Declination in the skies is the equivalent to latitude on Earth, so when the Sun is at 21 South 00 declination it is directly over latitude 21South00 on Earth. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/21st_parallel_south

From the viewpoint of the Earth the Sun has a steady and regular motion that maps the seasons.  In fact it is the rotation of the Earth around the Sun that produces this motion, but I will use the Earth based perspective.

When the Sun is on the Equator it is at 00N00 declination at at 0 Aries.   When the Sun is moving into the Southern Hemisphere at 00S00 declination on the Equator,  this point is also 0 Libra.

As the Sun moves into the Southern Hemisphere it moves steadily to 23S26’22” and this point is when it is also at 0 Capricorn  – high summer in our hemisphere and deep winter in the Northern Hemisphere.  This is the ‘boundary’ of the Sun in the Southern Hemisphere, it is the highest declination it reaches and marks the boundary of the Tropic of Capricorn.

As declination in the skies is the same as latitude on Earth, this marks the most southerly latitude at which the sun can appear directly overhead at noon.

The Sun then  moves back towards the equator and reaches 0 declination and 0 Aries at the equinox (equal day and night) on 21st March.  As the Sun is leaving our Hemisphere, this marks Southern Hemisphere Autumn and as the Sun is moving into the Northern Hemisphere latitudes, it marks their Spring.

The Sun steadily moves towards 23N26’22”, which is also when it is at 0 Cancer, high summer in the Northern Hemisphere and deep winter in the Southern.  This marks the boundary of the Tropic of Cancer.  It is the most Northerly latitude in which the Sun can appear directly overhead at noon.

From this you get the Southern Hemisphere signs of Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces as the Sun is in these Zodiac signs when in Southern Declination. The Northern Hemisphere signs are Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo and Virgo as the Sun is in these signs when in Northern Declination.

Any planet whose declination moves beyond this Solar ‘boundary’ is called ‘out of bounds’.  Because the Moon and inner planets achieve higher declinations, they can be ‘out of bounds’ quite often.  The Moon can reach a declination of almost 29° every 18.6 years when the North Node is near 0° Aries.  Mercury and Mars achieve a declination of approximately 27° at times, in 1907 Mars got out to 28S54. On rare occasions, Venus will reach 28°.  Uranus and Pluto go out-of-bounds less frequently and stay there for longer periods. Saturn and Neptune have nearly the same declination as the Sun while Jupiter only goes a few minutes beyond 23°27′ and so is rarely ‘out of bounds’.

Most Out of  Bounds planets are in Gemini or Cancer (Northern declination) or Sagittarius and Capricorn (Southern declination).

In my opinion planets that are out of bounds describe the ability to function outside of the box.  These positions often describe those with an intense need for personal freedom; lateral thinkers; original artists; people who are not bound by normal conventions and the rules of society; and sometimes people who are just lawless.

Therefore many original and unusual people have out of bounds planets.  For example Mozart had an out of bounds Mars at 27N11 and also at 0 Cancer.  This may have described his genius, particularly as Mars was also involved in a quintile pattern (creativity).

Here are Mozart’s declinations:

Mozart declinations

Here is his chart showing his quintile pattern:

Mozart

Many modern day astrologers have ‘out of bounds’ planets as astrology is presently not part of mainstream thought.  This is particularly the case for astrologers who can be termed ‘original thinkers’ and offer new ideas or new information in our area.
