Point of Thales

June 30th, 2010

This planetary pattern consists of an opposition with a trine and sextile from another planet.

In astrology this is an excellent configuration for the following reasons:

The opposition (180 degrees) can indicate tension with another, usually your marriage or business partner, sometimes a consultant or counselor, sometimes a rival; in fact anyone with whom you have a one to one focus.  The aim is learn to negotiate with this person so as to be able to associate in a co-operative and mutually beneficial way.  However the tensions generated by the opposition can make this quite difficult.

A trine (120 degrees) is an energy that is easy flowing and usually very harmonious.  In relation to an opposition it can describe an inherent talent or ability that enables you to sort out the tensions engendered by the opposition and turn them into assets.

The sextile (60 degrees) is an aspect that gives skill in communication and networking.  In relation to an opposition it gives the ability to explain what causes tension and discuss ways to resolve problems.

The planet that is the focus of the sextile and trine is the Point of Thales planet.    It is a great asset in enabling you to use your opposition in a balanced, co-operative way that benefits all parties.

Therefore the Point of Thales pattern in astrology can describe an excellent negotiator, or someone who is able to solve disputes and disagreements harmoniously.

To illustrate I have chosen the chart of a master negotiator, Ralph Nader. (click to see natal chart of  Ralph Nader) You can learn more about his life here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ralph_Nader

His is a particularly apt chart as he felt his role in life was to expose business and government corruption and negotiate a much fairer and just approach in these areas.

The two rulers of his Aquarian Ascendant, Saturn and Uranus, are involved in a Point of Thales pattern with Jupiter, the planet of justice, in the sign of Libra, the sign of balance and fairness.   Both Saturn and Uranus are in aspect to the Midheaven, indicating he would use this pattern in his career.

Jupiter and Saturn are the two planets that are connected to the structures of a society or culture and in harmonious aspect indicate that your society will accept you and listen to you in matters to do with government, business or any form of structure that affects the culture.  Nader has these two planets in a close trine indicating that he had the best form of this ability.

The desire to make the changes to unjust laws is shown by the Jupiter-Uranus opposition in the 9th-3rd houses.   The conflict with the establishment (Jupiter) this caused has been well documented.   Interestingly he started activating his Uranus in Aries in the 3rd house when he first criticized the automobile industry in an article he wrote for The Nation in 1959 called “The Safe Car You Can’t Buy.”

Uranus in aspect to Saturn can often show a strong desire to make changes in an organization and in harmonious aspect this can usually be implemented without too much trouble.  The sextile between these two planets indicated his persuasiveness through his writing and speeches.

The very strong Saturn in its own sign in sextile to its ruler Uranus and trine to Jupiter, is the point where the negotiations take place, the Point of Thales.   In Nader’s chart,  Saturn is the planet that effectively enables Uranus to make the changes, Jupiter to improve the laws and a better form of justice prevail.

Event charts

In an event chart a planet in trine to one point of the opposition and sextile to another can describe a person who gets on well with both parties in a dispute and helps negotiate a fair and equitable arrangement.

Calculating a natal Chart

June 17th, 2010

The four stages of calculation:

  1. Determine the time of birth in Greenwich Mean Time
  2. Find the local sidereal time at birth
  3. Calculate the planets positions
  4. Calculate the planetary aspects.

In this post I will demonstrate stages 1 and 2.  To follow you will need an Ephemeris for 1957 and a Book of Tables or Tables of  Houses.

Stage 1.     Determine the time of birth in Greenwich Mean Time

We adjust the time of birth to Greenwich Mean Time because the Ephemeris is calculated for GMT.

Example used:  Male:  12th October 1975, 2.20 pm, Ahmedabah, India Latitude

  1. Get the recorded time of birth                                            2.20 pm
  2. Convert this time of birth to the 24 hour clock                   14.20
  3. Adjust this time to Greenwich Mean Time
    • To do this you need to find the Time zone used for the location of birth.
    • The time zones are derived from the longitude of the place of birth and adjusted to a round figure, usually to the hour, but sometimes to the half hour.  Births prior to 1880 were recorded in Local Mean Time i.e. True Longitude Time.
    • If the longitude of the place of birth is West of GMT, then the time zone is added to get GMT as West is behind GMT.
    • If the longitude of the place of birth is East of GMT, then the time zone is taken away from GMT as East is ahead of GMT.
    • Many places use Daylight Saving Time so make sure you check whether this is being used.  If it is, take away the amount of daylight saving time.  E.g. usually one hour, but during the war it was sometimes 2.00 hours.

On the date of birth Ahemedabah, India was on the Indian Standard Time Zone of 5.30 East, so you take away this amount of time to get to GMT.
14 hours 20 minutes -05 hours 30 minutes = 08 hours 50 minutes GMT
This is the time we use to calculate the position of the planets in the natal chart.

Stage 2.    Find the local sidereal time at birth

Why do we need to do this?  We need to exactly calculate the angles and house cusps for a natal chart.

In one day, taken from the first point of Aries (the intersection of the ecliptic and the equator),  the Earth actually rotates 24 hours 3 minutes and 57 seconds so we need to adjust the GMT time of birth for that extra time.  This is called ‘Acceleration on the Interval’ – the interval being the GMT of birth.

Rule of thumb is that this adds 10 seconds of sidereal time for every hour of mean time and 1 second for every 6 minutes and for quick calculations this is fine.  However, it is actually 9.52.5 seconds of sidereal time for every hour which transferred to decimal points  = 9.868 seconds for every hour.

The easiest way to add this acceleration is to convert the GMT into minutes.  Using the GMT time of birth of 8 hours 50 minutes:

There are 60 minutes in an hour, so 8 x 60  =   480 minutes.   Add the extra 50 minutes.  So the  total minutes of GMT  = 530

Multiply this sum by   9.86 seconds   =   5230

Divide by 60 to turn into seconds      =    87 seconds

This is 1 minute 27 seconds and is the acceleration

So GMT time of birth is   8 hrs 50 minutes.  Add acceleration of   01’ 27 gives the sidereal time of birth  of 8 hrs 51’ 27

Now we use the Ephemeris

The midnight sidereal time for  12th October 1975 is   01  hour 21 minutes  13 seconds. Add GMT time of birth with acceleration 08 hours  51 minutes  27 seconds = Sidereal time at Greenwich at birth of   10 hours  12 minutes 40 seconds.

To calculate the exact angles and house cusps of a chart we need to bring this time back to the location of birth.

To do this we calculate true longitude time by turning the exact longitude of birth into time.

Longitude of Amendahbad is 72E37 .We multiply this by 4 because the Sun transits  one degree of longitude every 4 minutes.   72°37’  x   4   =   290.4666667’

Divide by 60 to turn into hours and minutes        =       4hrs 50’ 28”

This is the true longitude time for the birth location.

Because birth was East of Greenwich we add this to Sidereal time at Greenwich at birth

10 12 40 + 4 50 28 = 15 hours 03 minutes 08 seconds Local Sidereal Time.

You then look up the nearest sidereal time in the Book of Tables or Tables of Houses and it will give you close to the degree of the Midheaven of the chart.

You then look down the column to the latitude of the place of birth and this will give close to the degree of the Ascendant and house cusps.

Youwill need to make some small calculations to adjust the angles of the chart to the true sidereal time.  The Tables to help you do this are usually in the back of the Book of Tables.

When this is calculated it will give a Midheaven of 18Scorpio07 and Ascendant of 4Aquarius52.

Born in the Southern Latitudes

If someone is born in the Southern Latitudes you add 12 hours to the final calculations and if this bring the sum to over 24  hours then minus 24 hours if necessary:

E.g.   Local Sidereal Time    =     15.03.08   Plus 12 hours   = 27.03.08.  As this is over 24 hours we minus 24 and get the sum of  03 hours o3 minutes 08 seconds for the Local Sidereal time.

If you are using a Northern Hemisphere Book of Tables then you use this time but reverse the sign of the given Midheaven, Ascendant and house cusps to get the correct sign for these placements.  For example in the Northern Hemisphere Book of Tables 3 hours 3 minutes 08 seconds gives a Midheaven close to 18 Taurus 28, we need to reverse the sign so it is actually 18 Scorpio 28.  For latitude 23 South the Ascendant is given as 20 Leo, so we need to reverse the sign to 20 Aquarius.

This will give a Midheaven of 18 Scorpio and an Ascendant of 20 Aquarius  in the Southern Hemisphere.

Israel

June 7th, 2010

Israel officially became a country at midnight of 15th May 1948, in Tel Aviv, Israel when the British Mandate lifted.    http://www.trumanlibrary.org/israel/declare.htm.

Here is the chart and its aspects.  Please click to enlarge.

Aspects and Midpoint structures

Notice the difficult Saturn-Pluto conjunct the Descendant and making a midpoint structure of Descendant = Saturn/Pluto.  This configuration is considered very difficult indeed; the Combination of Stellar Influences by Ebertin says “being placed in cumbersome and difficult circumstances, separation, mourning and bereavement”  and that certainly has been the story of Israel to date.   This configuration gives some determined open enemies.  The day after Israel was declared a country the Arab nations attacked – an instant response confirming the accuracy and difficulties of this midpoint structure.

The Moon’s nodes enter this configuration with a midpoint pattern of Node = Pluto/Ascendant and Node = Saturn/Ascendant, both very difficult midpoint structures.

Node = Pluto/Ascendant gives powerful connections with others, and as Pluto is in the 7th house these can be partners and also open enemies.

North Node = Saturn/AS is a most difficult midpoint for harmonious associations with others.  It tends to give a ‘siege’ mentality; the desire to be separate from others;  the desire for seclusion; and unpleasant family circumstances.  As Israel’s ‘family’ are its cousins the Arabic nations,  this fits very well.  It is particularly apt as the North Node is in the 4th house of home and property.

All in all it was not a good time for a country to be born, but this chart certainly describes both the nature and situation of Israel.

I think this country will always need to fight wars as the traditional ruler of the MC, Mars, is square the MC from the 7th house of open enemies.  It will war with neighboring countries as Mars also rules the 3rd house of neighbors.  Many of these wars can be successful as Mars is conjunct the fixed star Regulus and this star can give considerable success.   Mars is also trine Jupiter which is  in its own sign in the 11th house of friendships, suggesting that friends will be of assistance.

However, Mars is also conjunct the sad Saturn/Vertex midpoint.  This is one of the most difficult of midpoints as it can give very hard and strenuous situations with others.  As all of these points are in the 7th house it brings great difficulties involving partnerships and agreements with other countries.  It considerably  intensifies the pressure on an already high pressure Mars-MC.

Yom Kippur War

The most terrifying war for Israel was the Yom Kippur war that started on the 6th October 1973, when Egypt and Syria attacked in a coordinated surprise attack.   The first strike was at 2.00 pm. It is so-called because it began on the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.  Egypt and Syria knew that Israel would be preoccupied with prayer and fasting and would therefore be unprepared and vulnerable.

This event was truly terrifying for the government and people of Israel as they felt they could be annihilated.   They begged the USA for assistance and Nixon agreed to send F4 planes to protect them.  Notice that the 11th cusp of this chart is conjunct the USA Sibly Ascendant.

This chart shows a difficult Saturn-Pluto square in the skies with Saturn conjunct and Pluto square Israel’s natal Venus.  As Israel was born on a Saturn-Pluto conjunction all transiting aspects between these two planets will have an effect on this country, particularly if they activated any natal point.  (At the time of writing [June 2010] there is an ongoing Saturn square Pluto aspect bringing further pressure to Israel.)

There were several factors that indicated this war:-

The rulers of Israel’s Ascendant are Saturn and Uranus.

Secondary Progressed Jupiter was square Secondary Progressed Vertex axis and all of this was activating natal and SP Uranus, so it was a time that could certainly be interpreted as very unsettling.  In addition, secondary Progressed Ascendant-Descendant was straddling natal 2nd-8th Koch houses. Click to see chartIsrael SP Yom Kippur

Solar Arc Ascendant-Descendant straddled the natal antiVertex-Vertex axis, indicating a year of Destiny.  Solar Arc IC was conjunct natal Uranus, indicating a time of unexpected events that could change the homeland.  Click to see chart Israel Yom Kippur SA

However, I think the most telling timer was the Minor Progressed Chart for that date as it has an exact Pluto-Vertex conjunction in the 8th house, with both conjunct natal Saturn. In addition, the Minor Progressed Descendant was conjunct natal Venus and activated by the transiting Saturn-Pluto square. MP Mercury is quincunx the natal MC.  Mercury is likely to always show in these charts as it is ruler of the Vertex.

Minor Progressions are often overlooked but can be excellent timers.

The Daily Age Harmonic Chart for this event was also accurate (see articles on Age Harmonics on this site).  An Harmonic chart must always involve the angles for major events.  It will often also  trigger natal house cusps.  This harmonic chart fits the necessary criteria.

* The Harmonic Ascendant at 14Virgo57  is quincunx the natal Ascendant, the quincunx aspect usually shows a time of change and adjustment.

* Harmonic Pluto is conjunct natal Moon and Harmonic Moon-Node is square this configuration.  This is quite a good indicator of the upheaval the population experienced en-mass.

* Harmonic Neptune is conjunct natal Vertex, indicating a time of destiny.

* Harmonic Mars is conjunct natal 8th cusp and natal Part of Death – this speaks for itself.

* Harmonic Saturn is conjunct natal South Node and square natal Ascendant-Descendant, describing the fear and restrictions inflicted on Israel by its enemies (natal Saturn in 7th house).

* Harmonic IC is conjunct natal Mercury, ruler of both the 8th house and the Vertex.  This again suggests a time of destiny and perhaps death in the homeland (IC).

Gaza Flotilla Attack

The world was very shocked when on the 31st May 2010 at close to 4.53 am, local time,  at latitude 32N38’28” longitude 33E34 in the Mediterranean Ocean and in neutral waters, Israel brutally attacked a flotilla bringing relief to people in blockaded Gaza.  Fully armed Israel troops attacked the unarmed flotilla, killing 19 people and wounding many more.

This chart is particularly interesting as transiting Pluto is currently opposite Israel’s natal Venus and Venus features very powerfully in all Israel events – we will find out why further down.

Transiting Sun is conjunct Mercury, ruler of the natal Vertex as well as square natal Vertex.     Transiting Neptune is currently opposite natal Mars and square natal MC, bringing misjudgments and confusion in matters to do with war. It also activates the very difficult Saturn/Vertex midpoint bringing great sadness and sorrow with it.

Notice that transiting Saturn is square Israel’s normally very fortunate Jupiter in Sagittarius in the 11th house.  This attack even angered its close friends and alienated Turkey who had been fairly supportive until this event.

Primary Directions

Primary directions will often show when important events are being activated.  Israel’s Primary directions for the Gaza Flotilla attack show two important points.  PD Uranus is conjunct natal Mars in the 7th house – quite a strong indication of an attack.  Uranus is also quincunx PD Midheaven indicating sudden events, changes and adjustments, particularly involving those in some form of authority.    Primary Direct Ascendant is conjunct natal North Node suggesting very important associations connected to the homeland during this period. Click to see chart Israel Gaza flotilla Primary Directions

So it looks like this official chart for the birth of Israel works very well.

Israel’s Proclamation Chart

However, Israel dignitaries pre-emptied this chart by holding a ceremony on the 14th May 1948 to proclaim the nation of Israel.  This ceremony started at exactly 4.00 pm in Tel Aviv with the reading of the proclamation. The dignitaries started to sign the document at 4.15 pm and Israel was proclaimed a nation at 4.32 pm.

“The ceremony of the proclamation of independence was started exactly at 4.00 pm. David Ben-Gurion read the Declaration of the Establishment of the State to those assembled. As he concluded the reading, he said “Let us accept the Foundation Scroll of the Jewish State by rising,” and the entire audience arose. Rabbi Fishman read the traditional blessing. The signers started to put their names on the Declaration at exactly 4.15 pm.

There is a full recoding of the ceremony in Hebrew of course with  English translation: www.knesset.gov.il/docs/eng/megilat_eng.htm

The scroll of independence was then signed by the 24 members of the National Committee  who were present and the meeting concluded at 4.32 pm when Ben-Gurion spoke the words ‘Israel has been born!’ “

I think the chart for this event shows how Israel perceives itself and the Mandate lifting chart may show how Israel is percieved by the world.

However, we have a problem of which chart is the correct one:- the one for the start of the ceremony at 4.00 pm, the one for the start of the signing of the official document at 4.15 pm or the one where it is declared that Israel has been born at the end of the ceremony?

Each of these charts have Libra rising with Venus in Cancer in the 9th house.  This explains why Venus features so strongly in the various methods of timing and prediction for Israel.

I am inclined towards the 4.32 pm chart as this is when the nation was proclaimed by David Ben-Gurion.  This chart has the 29th degree of Libra rising and the Moon conjunct the MC in Leo.  The Mercury-Vertex-Uranus conjunction indicates unusual situations and events for this country.

The Part of Death for this chart is 24Leo59  and the Part of Fatality is 22Capricorn32.  In matters to do with war and death it is reasonable to expect these Parts to be activated.

The Solar Arc for this chart gives several accurate factors:

*  SA Sun is conjunct natal Vertex, indicating a time of destiny

*  SA Descendant is conjunct natal Sun, indicating the prominence and power of Israel’s enemies.

*  SA Midheaven and Moon are conjunct natal Mars, ruler of the 7th house of enemies.  These also make a midpoint structure of natal Mars = SA Moon/MC,.  This shows both the attack, and as this configuration is in Leo, the world prominence of this event.

*  SA Venus, the ruler of the Ascendant, is square natal Ascendant.  Venus is prominent in most event charts for Israel.

* SA Jupiter is conjunct the Part of Fatality, indicating some fatalities during this war.

*  Interestingly SA North Node  is conjunct natal Ceres.  I don’t quite know how to interpret this configuration other than I have noticed that Ceres can be prominent in matters to do with death.

(click to see Solar Arcs Israel Yom Kippur SA )

This Solar Arc  fulfills the criteria of the angles being involved in a major event.

The Daily Age Harmonic for this birth time is also quite descriptive of the event:

You can see Harmonic angles come together with the difficult Harmonic Pluto square Node, to make up a pattern of Descendant conjunct North Node in the natal 7th house square Pluto conjunct IC in the natal 10th house.  This easily describes a day of mass upheaval through an enemy.

In addition Harmonic Ascendant is conjunct Harmonic South Node indicating a period of possible loss.  The parallax Moon is at 18Capricorn10, bringing this even further into prominence.

The actual time of the attack, 2.00 pm on the 6th October 1973 (see chart and beginning of article), has Ascendant-Jupiter conjunct the IC for Israel’s 4.32 pm chart and the Descendant conjunct the natal MC-Moon.  As the angles were activated, this also indicates that this chart might be the correct one.

My preference is for the 12.00 am chart for all matters to do with the outer world.  Of the possible proclamation charts my preference is currently for the 4.32 pm chart as the angles clearly respond to the Yom Kippur War.   I will continue to check out all charts and may change my mind in the future.

As the Saturn-Pluto square is still activating Israel’s natal Venus and the coming Lunar Eclipse on the 26th June 2010 will also be activating this planet,  I am certain that there will be further events this year.  Interestingly the angles for this lunar eclipse for Jerusalem are close to those of the 4.32 pm chart for Israel, increasing its effect on this country.

I  will update this post as future events unfold.

James Van Praagh

June 2nd, 2010

I have researched the charts of psychics, both private and public, for a fair while and have discovered a couple of factors that are consistent.

1.  The Vertex axis is always accentuated.

The Vertex axis is the “doorway to other realities” (see my articles on the Vertex axis ) and naturally would be emphasized in the charts of those who consistently deal with other realities, including the psychic worlds.

James has his Vertex in the 8th house, indicating a possible involvement with those who are dying or have died.

The Vertex is in Leo, indicating an ability to present this involvement dramatically or in a showmanship type of way.

Venus, the ruler of the MC (career) is conjunct the Vertex, indicating he uses this ability in his career and has a destined career.

The Vertex has been called the electrical axis of the chart.  It is conjunct Uranus, the planet that rules electricity.  This conjunction can give most unusual and astonishing experiences and in the 8th house these can be connected to the world after death.

Personally I think the abilities James manifests require a huge amount of energy.  Uranus conjunct Vertex would give a considerable amount of electrical energy.  Electrical energy has often been noted around people who manifest unusual abilities.

2.  For a public psychic the quintile aspect series is usually prominent.

The quintile series of aspects connected to the Vertex axis give the ability to powerfully express these types of abilities.  James has his Uranus-Vertex conjunction quintile the MC.  This is further enhanced by Uranus being the ruler of the antiVertex.

He has the rising Moon biquintile Mars, the ruler of his IC, again giving the ability to powerfully present his skills.

3.  The septile series aspects often shown psychic ability

The septile series of aspects tend to give a considerable interest in realities other than the norm, so frequently show up in the charts of psychics, researchers, explorers, scientists, astrologers .. and any area that requires this facility.  As the Vertex axis describes the doorway to other realities and the septile series give an interest in other realities these two fit together very nicely.

James has very powerful Mars 5th-Pluto 8th-MC-North Node septile pattern enabling him to present these skills in a career.  Pluto in the 8th house conjunct the Sun suggests these skills can be connected to death and the afterworld.

An adoring public

James has a large public following.  This is indicated by theMoon rising in applying sextile to Jupiter, sextile MC-Node.  Moon in harmonious aspect to its nodal axis often gives the ability to connect well to the public.  Moon rising gives the public touch. In James case it gives a particular magnetism because it is in applying trine to Sun-Pluto.

career:

It is a ‘destined’ career because the ruler of the MC is conjunct the Vertex.

He has his MC conjunct North Node and both conjunct the fixed star Spica!  A truly brilliant combination.

Jupiter, the ruler of the 12th house, conjunct and parallel MC suggests benefits from psychic work and institutions.  Jupiter conjunct MC often gives a successful career.

Writer:

Moon rising gives that public touch.  The ruler of the 3rd house in the 10th and conjunct-parallel MC is an excellent combination for a writer.    Jupiter is conjunct the Part of Genius.

Mercury, the ruler of the 9th house (publishing),  conjunct Regulus and rising Moon in applying trine enabled him to get published and helped sell the books.

Further comments:

He has Saturn, the ruler of his Ascendant, retrograde  in the 12th house in quincunx to Mars in the 5th house.

Saturn retrograde usually gives an inward quality.  People with this position tend to build internal structures rather than rely on the external structures of their culture.

The Ascendant ruler in the 12th house will give access to the unconscious mind.  People with this placement often have very strong dreams and some have psychic abilities.

The quincunx often gives a wacky sense of humour!

As Mars is ruler of the 4th house I would think that James has some pressures connected to a parent. The quincunx to retrograde Saturn suggests that these pressures drove him inward and set in motion the desire and ability to trust his own structures, his own nature and skills, rather than rely on others perceptions of the world.

Thor’s Hammer

May 31st, 2010

Thor’s Hammer is an aspect pattern consisting  of a square (90 degrees)  and two sesiquadrate (135 degrees)  interconnecting aspects.

It is part of the dynamic series of aspects that are based on the 8th harmonic  (45 degree) aspect series.

This is a particularly difficult pattern as the sesiquadrate aspect tends to give quite severe criticism from others and this produces considerable personal tension.  To work at its best it needs at least one planet in the pattern to have an outlet i.e. an easy flow aspect to another planet or planetary pattern.  The outlet planet can describe people who help and/or a talent or ability that eases the pressure.

I think any aspect pattern that involves an angle is much stronger than those that just involve planets as the angles make them very personal indeed.

Sarah, Duchess of York

To illustrate I will use the Chart of Sarah, Duchess of York as she has received severe criticism most of her life.

Sarah was born on the 15th October 1959, 9.03 am London England. Here is her natal chart.  Click it  to enlarge.

As you can see in the chart below, she has a Thor’s Hammer aspect pattern involving Ascendant-Uranus-South Node Moon, making a close midpoint structure of South Node (Moon) = Uranus/Ascendant.   This pattern  has given her a considerable amount of personal tension.

Her Thor’s Hammer involves two sesiquadrate aspects involving the Moon.  Sesiquadrates give criticism from others and Fergie has suffered an enormous amount of criticism from the public (Moon) throughout her life, partly about her physical body (Ascendant), partly through her affairs (Moon in 5th) and on an international level through the Press (Uranus in 9th).    She seems to get caught doing what everyone else also privately does and scorn is poured on her.  Her fellow Princess, Diana, had a huge number of affairs and was also caught out, but received no scorn at all.

The midpoint structure this Thor’s Hammer pattern makes of Moon =Uranus/Ascendant tends to give considerable emotional tension connected to the environment or physical body, with matters flaring up suddenly and unexpectedly.  After her “Duchess of Pork” days she learned to turn the energy around and use it to benefit her through becoming the spokesperson for Weight Watchers.

This Thor’s Hammer has a most interesting outlet – a YOD pattern also involving the Moon as the focus point with quincunxes to Neptune and Pluto-MC.

The YOD pattern can be very helpful at times as it stimulates both flexibility and a sense of humour  (see article on quincunx)  The YOD pattern requires one to be on their toes and able to quickly adjust to situations.  The Cardinal, Fixed, Mutable emphasis gives access to the ability to take action (cardinal), remain stable (fixed) and use skilled communication (mutable) to handle a situation.  Sarah’s  Neptune and Pluto components increase her ability to personally (Moon) tap into global issues (Neptune) and work with powerful people (Pluto).  The disadvantage is that the midpoint structure of Moon = Neptune/Pluto considerably increases her sensitivity and this can increase the pain of the Thor’s Hammer configuration.  Her best help is her sense of humour as this can help her handle most high pressure situations.

Transits to Thor’s Hammer

Dynamic series  transits to Thor’s Hammer can be very stressful as they bring a high level of criticism from others.  The trick is to carefully listen to the criticism and take on board the components you feel may be accurate.  You can then work on finding ways to turn that energy into a positive – as Sarah did when she became spokesperson for Weight Watchers.  It is wise to discard all criticism that you feel is unfair or unjust as trying to please the critics can destroy you.

Transits to Fergie’s South Node-Moon configuration would activate the Thor’s Hammer, (8th harmonic) YOD (12th harmonic) and a  quindecile (24th harmonic) to the Sun, so these periods would always be rather stressful for her.  Note that transiting Pluto is currently ( May 2010) square her South Node and moving into square to her Moon and she is the focus of yet another huge scandal and scathing personal criticism  because she accepted  huge amounts of money to give someone an introduction to her ex-husband, Prince Andrew.  This practice is quite common in her circles, but yet again she has been the critical  focus for actions that others consider normal.  It interests me that she has turned to her YOD’s sense of humour to handle the pressure.

Diurnal (Daily) Charts

May 30th, 2010

Diurnal are daily charts calculated for your birth time and birth location, but for a specific day.  When calculating these charts you need to make sure that the time zone is the same one as your birth time zone so if you are born during Daylight Saving then the diurnal must always be calculated for Daylight Saving time – even in winter.   Alternatively you can calculate your diurnals for GMT but use your birth location, this resolves any daylight saving or time zone dilemma.

For example, Barrack Obama was born in Hawaii at 7.24 pm on the 4th August 1961.  The time zone was +10.00 so we need to add 10 hours to his birth time to get his GMT time.  This is 5.24 am the next day,  the 5th August 1961.

You can see that I have calculated this chart for GMT, but for the location at  birth.  This produces exactly the same angles as calculating the chart for the time zone.  Using the GMT chart makes working with diurnals so much easier as it saves all kinds of time zone adjustments.

Notice that the angles are exactly the same as those calculated for 7.24 pm, 4th August 1961 in Hawaii.  The angles must be the same or you have made a mistake in transferring the time zone of the birth place to GMT.

If you are born later in the evening and have an event during the morning or afternoon, then you use the diurnal of the day before as the diurnal of that day doesn’t click in until your actual time of birth.

Diurnal charts are a wonderful tool in many ways.

First of all, you can see how accurate your birth time is because a diurnal planet on a diurnal angle, or a diurnal angle on a natal planet, will always produce an event of the nature of the planet and angle.

As these are daily charts you are not looking for earth shaking events, they usually just describe normal daily living.   For example, each of my children invariably contacts me when my diurnal angle is conjunct one of their natal planets.  I tend to have them all ring or turn up when the diurnal nodal axis is activated by a diurnal angle.

You will notice you tend to meet people who fit the description of a diurnal activation;  i.e. if you have diurnal Jupiter on your diurnal MC, then that day you are likely to meet a Sagittarius or Jupiter person who assists you in achieving a goal.

For this reason these charts are good for rectification as you can easily see if you time is out by four or eight minutes by daily events.  E.g. Diurnal Venus conjunct diurnal Ascendant will tend to give a day of beauty treatments or buying clothes or jewelery that suits you.  People will compliment you on your appearance and generally matters work quite harmoniously.  Diurnal Mars on Diurnal Ascendant will tend to describe a very active day where you tend to be a bit more combative than usual… and so on.

Exact diurnal aspects to diurnal and natal angles work just as accurately.

Diurnal angles activate the whole zodiac each year.

The other thing I love about these charts is that you get to experience every sign and degree of the zodiac during the year. You can have a month where diurnal Libra is on the Ascendant and you will find you tend to be charming and tactful,  the following month diurnal Scorpio is on the Ascendant and you will find this month you tend to be intense,  and then diurnal Sagittarius, where you tend to be restless and exploratory .. and so on.  The sign and house placement of the ruler of the diurnal Ascendant will show where you will place your energy for that period of time.   Likewise the diurnal zodiac sign and degree on the MC and the sign and house of its ruler will show where you place your career emphasis for that period of time.

These angles will also stimulate your natal houses and bring the matters connected to these houses to the fore.  The day the diurnal Ascendant, MC or Vertex activates a house cusp is often quite a busy day in matters to do with that house.

You can see just how you respond to a natal planet, because when a diurnal angle conjoins this planet you will experience an ordinary event that describes how you use that energy.  As a result you can develop ways to improve your response to that planet.

It is also quite a handy tool to check out which house system is your major resonance as that systems house cusps will often respond to diurnal activation just as the angles do.

Relocation in Diurnal charts:

This is a point of some controversy.  Many astrologers prefer to just use the natal place of birth, but some have noticed that the relocated diurnal will work well for that locality.  This is particularly the case if you have lived in that locality for a long time, or an event of great importance happened there.  I leave it for you to experiment and decide for yourself.  I use both.

It is important to remember that diurnals are daily charts and describe daily events, but they can be good timers for larger events that are shown by major transits, progressions, directions and profections and will often trigger these charts just as well as the natal.

Barrack Obama Diurnal

To illustrate lets look at a very important day in the life of Barrack Obama:  The day he was elected to be President of the United States on the 4th November 2008.

Above is his natal diurnal for the date of the election.   Gemini rising indicates he is in a month of considerable communication. Note that the ruler of the Ascendant, Mercury, is conjunct the Vertex,   indicating  a day of personal destiny. It is in the 5th house, suggesting that would be a fortunate day, perhaps involving love, pleasure or children.  It is in Libra, indicating that relationships would be emphasized in some way.  The conjunction is making a semisextile to his natal MC, suggesting perhaps a new emphasis beginning for his career.

Interestingly, the Mercury-Vertex conjunction is square the 3rd and 9th Koch house cusps, perhaps suggesting the enormous amount of communication involved that day.

The diurnal MC is in Aquarius, suggesting that matters of social consciousness would be emphasized that month.  6 days earlier it was conjunct his natal Ascendant, indicating a day of personal effort to achieve his goals.

Uranus, the modern ruler of the MC, is in the diurnal 10th house, again putting considerable emphasis on career matters during this period of time.  The close opposition to Saturn indicates battles with conservative, established people to achieve his aims.

Obama natal and diurnal 4th November 2008

When we put this diurnal around the outside of his natal chart we find that the diurnal IC is conjunct natal Uranus, the ruler of his natal Ascendant.  This indicates some unexpected changes or unusual events connected to home and/or career.  We can easily see it is a day of change.

In addition diurnal Uranus is quincunx natal Descendant and diurnal Saturn is quincunx natal Ascendant.  The quincunx aspect also indicates changes that involves a number of adjustments.  Saturn and Uranus are both rulers of his Ascendant, indicating personal adjustments.

Obama relocated to Washington

Now lets look at the very same diurnal for his relocation to Washington DC.  Remember I am sticking to the GMT time zone to avoid confusion with time zones.  I know he was in Denver, Colorado on the day of the election, but have chosen Washington because this is the place of the focus of the election and the place of  the White House.

Isn’t it interesting that the relocated Ascendant is the same as the natal diurnal Ascendant on the date of the election.  It is even more interesting to note that 7Gemini21 is Obama’s Part of Kings and Sultans (Ascendant + Mars – Moon or the position of Mars in the Moon equilibrium chart – see article on Arabic parts).  Obama would do well at any time an angle or house cusp activated this point.  It is particularly serendipitous that it is on the Ascendant in his Washington relocation chart and the natal diurnal chart for the day of the election.

The relocated diurnal chart has Leo rising, indicating a time of prominence – being up front and center stage!  The ruler of the Ascendant, the Sun, is in the third house – again indicating a period of communication for that month.   Taurus is on the MC, suggesting a steady, practical approach to career matters; its ruler Venus, is in Sagittarius in the 4th house indicating a period of travel or long distance contact connected to career, as well as matters to do with home and country being important.

The Midheaven trines the Moon that day from the diurnal 5th house, suggesting the public love him.

Its interesting that the IC is in applying conjunction to Mars and square to Neptune.  By the end of the day, when the election was over, this conjunction was exact.  Mars is the traditional ruler of Obama’s Scorpio MC so one would expect to see it active in a diurnal for such an important day.  Neptune is very frequently involved in diurnal charts involving global matters or very big events of a social-economic kind.

Obama natal and diurnal for Washington

Here is the relocated diurnal placed around the Washington relocated natal chart.  Diurnal Ascendant is conjunct natal Uranus, ruler of natal Ascendant and diurnal MC, indicating an unexpected event or sudden change on that day.  This diurnal reinforces the natal diurnal IC conjunct Uranus.    The diurnal IC is also just separating from the quincunx to Saturn, perhaps suggesting the enormous effort he had made.

Diurnal MC is conjunct natal Ceres. This interests me a great deal as Ceres seems to feature quite a bit in similar events.  It can have a ‘rulership’ connotation as well has a public touch.

Obama natal and diurnal for Denver, Colorado

And last but not least, here is the relocated natal and diurnal charts  for Denver, Colorado.  The relocated  MC is 18Capricorn05, with transiting Saturn opposite Uranus clicking right into it via Saturn, the ruler of the MC, in trine to the MC and Uranus sextile.

And, of course, diurnal Jupiter is conjunct relocated MC, indicating a fortunate and successful day.

Taurus is rising in Denver and the diurnal chart has the ruler of Taurus, Venus, conjunct the Vertex – indicating a day of destiny.

The Part of Kings and Sultans for this location is 21Leo21; diurnal Neptune is opposite that part and diurnal Mars square.

Remember that diurnal charts map daily, ordinary events in your life.  Huge events like being elected the President of the United States would show with other methods of prediction, but the little diurnals have proved that they can be good timers for the day of these events and will often also trigger progressed and directed charts.  For example , the natal diurnal Vertex anti-Vertex axis was in the same degree and sign as the Solar Arc Vertex -antiVertex axis, indicating a powerful day of destiny.

What is the difference between Northern and Southern Hemisphere Astrology?

May 3rd, 2010

There are several factors to be considered if you are a Southern Hemisphere Astrologer:

The Sun moves into this hemisphere when it reaches 0 degree declination on the Equator close to the 23rd September each year.  This point is designated 0 degrees of Libra and is the start of the Southern Hemisphere spring because the Sun is entering this hemisphere.  It is the start of the Northern Hemisphere Autumn because the Sun is leaving that hemisphere.

So, in the Southern Hemisphere,  Libra is a spring sign not an autumn one and carries many of the fast growing, entrepreneurial qualities of Spring, yet remains and air sign that is tactful, balanced and people oriented.

Southern and Northern Hemisphere signs

Whilst the Sun is in the Southern Hemisphere it traverses Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. These are the spring and summer signs.  When the Sun reaches 23South27 declination it is at its highest point in the Southern Hemisphere,  this is also 0 Capricorn, the Southern Hemisphere  summer solstice,  which occurs close to the 22nd December each year.   It is normally a time of great heat.   It is the dead of winter in the Northern Hemisphere and as most astrologers are from the Northern Hemisphere, Capricorn gained a reputation for being a cold sign.

Because of these differences  I have spent a great deal of my astrological life cutting away the seasonal interpretations of the signs that are rife in astrology books written by Northern Hemisphere astrologers and observing how this same sign works in Southern Hemisphere seasons.  This has taught me that the sign still has its intrinsic ‘flavour’ but can function in a different way.  I don’t have the space in this article to describe the differences in each sign, so will illustrate using Capricorn as it is the Southern Hemisphere’s  hottest summer sign.

Capricorns in the Northern Hemisphere are described as slender, dark, sad people with sallow skins.  This description fits a baby born in the dead of winter whose mother didn’t have sufficient nourishment to feed the child properly.  These Capricorns often don’t like water very much at all as they did not have much access to water immersion as a baby.

In contrast, Capricorns born in the Southern Hemisphere tend to be well nourished, big, tall blond people with skins that tan easily.  They comfortably take on the ‘fishes tail’ side of the Capricorn symbol and often love the water as they as constantly immersed in water from the time of their birth.

Capricorns of both hemispheres love music and have dry sense of humour.  Both types of Capricorns manifest the ability to skilfully manage all kinds of organizations and instinctively know how to put a round peg in a round hole and a square peg in a square hole – an ability that no other sign manifests quite as well.

However, most Southern Hemisphere summer Capricorns don’t manifest the killer survival instinct of their Northern Hemisphere counterparts because being born in summer tends to give a free, open lifestyle rather than the restrictive,  shut away, swaddling clothes, struggle for survival  type of lifestyle the Northern Hemisphere babies experienced until quite recently.

Do the signs ‘swap’ for the Southern Hemisphere?

There has been some talk that the signs of the zodiac tend to swap characteristics in the different hemispheres. e.g.   Aquarius in the Southern Hemisphere swaps to Leo. This cannot be possible and shows a lack of understanding of the nature of the Earth’s movement around the Sun and how this activates the Earth’s zodiac (energy field).   Aquarius is always Aquarius, but in the Southern Hemisphere it is a summer Aquarius.  Likewise Leo is always Leo, but in the Southern Hemisphere it is a winter Leo and this seasonal change affects the manifestation of the sign.

I understand this concept upsets the elegant structures of Northern Hemisphere astrologers, but their astrology is just based on observation of how it works in their hemisphere and often in the higher latitudes of their hemisphere, so is not relevant to Southern Hemisphere astrology.

Here is an illustration of the signs of the zodiac of the Earth and how they are energized by the orbit of the Earth around the Sun.  Click the illustration to enlarge it.

Southern Hemisphere Illustration

I have arranged this illustration with the Southern Hemisphere at the top of the globe and the Northern at the bottom as that is how it is for the Southern Hemisphere .  This illustration was created in late October and  you can see that the Sun has just moved into the Southern Hemisphere and is in the Southern Hemisphere Spring and Northern Hemisphere Autumn.

It is easy to see that the time the Sun or planets in our Solar System are in the Southern Hemisphere they are in the signs Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces so these are called “Southern Hemisphere Signs” and when in the Northern Hemisphere are in the signs Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo and Virgo so these are called “Northern Hemisphere Signs”.

The declination = zodiac cycle

The signs follow this declination cycle with a small variable:-

00N00 declination on the Equator = 0 Aries
11N29 declination = 0 Taurus
20N09 = 0 Gemini
23N27  = 0 Cancer.    This is the highest point the Sun reaches in the Northern Hemisphere and is high summer.  In the Southern hemisphere it is deep winter.   It is the boundary of the Tropic of Cancer.

As the Sun moves back towards the equator we get:
20N09 = 0 Leo
11N29 = 0 Virgo
00S00 = 0 Libra. This places the Sun on the equator and moving into the Southern Hemisphere and therefore Southern declination.

11S29 = 0 Scorpio;
20S09 = 0 Sagittarius;
23S27 = 0 Capricorn and the highest point the Sun reaches in the Southern Hemisphere. This is high summer in the Southern Hemisphere and deep winter in the Northern Hemisphere. This is the boundary of the Tropic of Capricorn.

As the Sun starts moving back towards the equator
20S09 = 0 Aquarius;
11S29 = 0 Pisces
and back to the equator at 00N00 declination and 0 Aries.

Knowing this it is easy to determine whether a planet is in the Southern or Northern Hemisphere by checking whether it is in a Southern or Northern Hemisphere sign.

Northern Hemisphere Illustration

Here is an illustration of this cycle from a Northern Hemisphere perspective:  Click the illustration to enlarge:

Lunar Declination Astrology

This strongly affects a form of lunar declination astrology, which suggests that when the Progressed Moon is moving into Northern declination then matters tend to progress in the outer world and when it moves into Southern declination then matters tend to move inward and become more private.  In the Southern Hemisphere this is likely to be the reverse.  Regardless of this idea, I have noticed that if you have the majory of your planets in Southern Declination whenever transits, progressions or directions active these declinations it is a busy time in your life.  If you live in the Northern Hemisphere you are likely to attract people from the Southern Hemisphere to you. Likewise, if you have a majority of planets in Northern declination, whenever these are activated by transits, progressions or directions it is likely to be a busy time in your life.  If you live in the Southern Hemisphere you are likely to attract people from the Northern Hemisphere to you.

“Classical” or “Traditional” astrology

These forms of astrology are almost entirely based on the Northern Hemisphere seasons.  The structures of these forms of astrology were based on the observations of Northern Hemisphere astrologers over a long period of time.   These ancient astrologers didn’t know that the Earth had two hemispheres in which the seasons were opposite and so they mapped the way astrology worked in their location(s) and thought this was the way it worked for the whole world.   It is an elegant form of astrology and possibly still quite relevant to people who were born in the mid latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere but doesn’t make any sense at all for those born in the Southern Hemisphere or even those born in the tropics.

The whole system of dignity, exaltation, detriment and fall are derived from the Zodiac signs connected to the Northern Hemisphere seasons  and obviously this cannot be the case in the Southern Hemisphere where the seasons are reversed – it is high summer and very hot in the signs of Capricorn and Aquarius and dead of winter and cold in the signs of Cancer and Leo –  therefore the actual reasons these signs carry the dignity and detriment of the Sun and Moon is not the case in the Southern Hemisphere.

I started learning astrology in the late ’60’s;  even in those early days I questioned how this system could possibly work in the Southern Hemisphere – there is no reason at all why astrology derived from Northern Hemisphere mid latitude seasons would affect the whole world.   I also observed that people didn’t behave the way the Northern Hemisphere text books said they should when they had planets in detriment and fall.  For this reason I turned to Cosmobiology in the mid 70’s as this system doesn’t rely on signs and seasons and works beautifully.  Over the next decade or so I worked out to my own satisfaction  how the signs manifested in the Southern Hemisphere and eventually discarded the concepts of dignity, exaltation, detriment and fall for this hemisphere and for those born in the tropics.

North and South Nodes

Another area that may change in interpretation is the North and South Lunar Nodes.

The North Node is determined from the position of the Moon when it crosses the ecliptic from South to North.  The South Node of the Moon is determined from when the Moon crosses the ecliptic from North to South.  As you can see from the above illustration, the ecliptic is not the same as the equator so the Moon can be in the Southern or Northern Hemisphere when it makes the crossings.

In tropical astrology the North Node of the Moon is considered the path we are taking in the future and the South Node the qualities we have already developed.  Is this concept based on a Northern Hemisphere ‘bias’ in astrological thinking i.e. the North latitude as the important focus?  Perhaps, as we have a Southern Hemisphere focus, the South Node of the Moon is the path we are taking and the North Node the qualities we have already developed.

Thoughts

As a large proportion of the Caucasian population in the Southern Hemisphere have Northern Hemisphere ancestry, Southern Hemisphere astrology is still in its infancy.  I think it takes some time for the genetic structure to adjust to a Southern Hemisphere orientation.  People who are first or second generation Southern Hemisphere Caucasians will still tend to be physically aligned to the Northern Hemisphere and its astrology.  People who are fifth or sixth generation Southern Hemisphere Caucasians may well have changed their orientation to the Southern Hemisphere and be patterned to this hemisphere’s seasonal manifestation of the zodiac signs.

To illustrate, I recently attended a workshop on “Classical” astrology and was interested to see that almost all the attendees were people born in the Northern Hemisphere or were first generation births in the Southern Hemisphere.  Those astrologers whose families had lived in the Southern hemisphere longer than that didn’t seem to be interested in this system unless they had  their own personal agenda connected to this form of astrology.

There is so much Northern Hemisphere bias that even the regularly used maps of the world are disproportional.  Here is a link to the Peters Projection World Map, which gives the correct proportions of the land mass.  Here is a link to a map of the Earth with the Southern Hemisphere on the top;   https://www.flourish.org/upsidedownmap/    For a northern hemisphere person  this must be very strange, but it is just as valid as maps with the Northern Hemisphere at the top.

Lillians’s Vertex axis natal and in relocation

April 12th, 2010

Lillian you asked me to look at both your natal Vertex axis and the relocated one, so I thought it might be a good basis for a short article.

NATAL CHART

Here is your natal chart.  Click it to enlarge.

Lillian has the Vertex at 15 Taurus 44, in the 7th house and conjunct 8th cusp (Koch).  It is trine the North Node, sextile Uranus and Part of Fortune and in a lovely septile pattern involving Ascendant – Moon- Vertex which makes up the midpoint structure of Moon = Ascendant/Vertex

The septile pattern suggests a questioning, seeking approach to life, with an ability to understand other realities.  The Vertex axis gives access to other realities so these two components go very well together.  The Moon is the ruler of the MC suggesting this quality can be used for career or important goals.  Septile aspects involving the Vertex often gives psychic ability, but septile people are usually rather private and don’t broadcast these skills.  Septile patterns often show in the charts of researchers of various kinds, including scientific research.

The trine to the North Node would factor in either family matters or working with groups of people.  It would give destined associations.

The sextile to Uranus suggests an interest in inventions and other unusual areas.  Uranus will often give an interest in the far past.

Here is Lillian’s natal chart with the antiVertex aspects.  Click to enlarge if necessary

The antiVertex makes a septile pattern with the MC and Mercury, involving the midpoint structure of MC = Mercury/antiVertex.

This also factors in the career as an area that involves more than ordinary or unusual areas.  Mercury in the 7th house suggests destined relationships and as ruler of the 9th and 12th houses, perhaps these are in foreign lands.  With the septiles and antiVertex involved you would require relationships that were deeper and wiser than the norm, and with Mercury involved the need to be able to discuss your interests with your partner would be very important

The Vertex in Taurus would also give a destiny connected to matters to do with the Earth.  In the 7th house it would give a need to find your ‘soul mate’ and conjunct the 8th cusp very deep experiences in life.

RELOCATED CHART

People often move to places where either the natal or relocated Vertex axis is strongly emphasized.  This indicates that they have a destiny connected to this place and that it is likely that the experience of living in that location will deepen them in some way.

Here is Lillian’s relocated chart.  Click to enlarge if necessary.

We know this location is likely to be a good one for Lillian as the relocated Ascendant is conjunct Jupiter and trine Neptune.  This combination is considered to be particularly fortunate.  Neptune is conjunct relocated IC and this suggests a home near the sea or a lake.

Look at the relocated Vertex!  It is conjunct the Moon, which has a septile aspect to the natal Vertex, suggesting that this is a powerful place for Lillian and one that she was destined to visit.  As the Moon is ruler of natal MC, this suggests she was destined to move to this location for a goal or purpose.

In addition, Mercury is conjunct the relocated MC.  It is in a septile pattern with natal MC so this too suggests she has relocated to a place of destiny for an important goal.

To further emphasis the power of the Vertex and septile aspects, Lillian has her Moon in septile aspect to relocated IC and her relocated Vertex in septile aspect to Neptune.

It is clear to me that this location will open Lillian to some deep experience that is part of her destiny.  As the septile patterns are involved this will increase her wisdom and ability to connect to quite different realties than the norm.  It could also suggest some powerful spiritual forces are available.

Saturn Cycles in the Natal Chart

April 1st, 2010

Saturn conjunct Ascendant  to Saturn conjunct IC

This starts a period of developing inner awareness and understanding of yourself.

It is rarely a time when you are active in the outer world as the natural inclination is to withdraw. There is usually a desire for privacy and enjoyment of quieter pursuits.

It is a period where you build internal structures particularly in:-

Your body and environment when Saturn transits your Ascendant and first house.

Your money and personal self-esteem when Saturn transits your 2nd house

Your communicative abilities and an area of study and learning when Saturn transits your 3rd house.

Interestingly, if  you live far from your place of birth, when Saturn transits your Ascendant you are often drawn back to your homeland.

Saturn conjunct the IC to Saturn conjunct Descendant

This starts a period where you begin developing creative expression.   You are a little more outgoing, but still find privacy desirable.

When Saturn transits the 4th house you set down your roots and pay attention to matters connected to home and property.  There may also be duties connected to a parent.

When Saturn transits the 5th house you develop basic structures or further develop skills  in creative or sporting areas.  Responsibilities connect to children become important.

When Saturn transits the 6th house you develop an understanding of your body’s health structures and what it needs to maintain them.  You can also develop technical skills.

Saturn conjunct the Descendant to Saturn conjunct the MC

This starts a period where you become more outgoing and are usually eager to offer your skills to the world.

As Saturn transits the 7th house you build relationships and partnerships of all kinds.

As Saturn transits the 8th house you learn to deal with other’s resources – this is  a period where there is often considerable interaction with banks, government agencies and resources  of funding or assistance.  It is also a time when you are able to effectively do research in your field.

As Saturn transits the 9th house you will communicate the knowledge you have gained and desire to develop even higher levels of skill.  This is often a time when you attend university or study a subject that gives you insight into higher levels of awareness.  You can present the results of the research you undertook when Saturn was transiting the 8th house.

Saturn conjunct MC to Saturn conjunct Ascendant

This is the period of life where you peak.  Achievements and rewards from a life well built during previous Saturn cycles can occur.  It can also bring a wipe out and the need to start all over again if your structures were poorly built.

As Saturn transits the 10th house there is considerable emphasis on career.

As Saturn transits the 11th house friendships, social causes and other forms of important contacts are emphasized.  This is a time you can form long term associations.

As Saturn transits the 12th house you develop an inner wisdom from the experiences of the past 28 years.  You may have quite a bit to do with institutions and spiritual organizations.
